Have you ever tried to make a change and it was hard? Whenever I try and make a change in life, I have a lot of people saying I shouldn’t do it.

It’s like they’re warning me that I shouldn’t try too hard and get disappointed. They would never do something like that so why would I ?

I even found myself saying the same…“Just stay where you are… this is probably OK…maybe I shouldn’t expect so much…”

But you know what? It doesn’t have to be like that. We can have it all!

Because change can actually, BE FUN!

From my experience and my clients, we choose fun and change over struggle and feeling stuck. All it takes is finding ways to keep yourself motivated and making some strategic changes for success!

Here’s what we’re going to do…

  1. Physical Fun! Pick an exercise or physical activity that’s fun. Weightlifting, yoga, swimming, biking, jogging, dancing… the options are endless. So, pick one that lights up your pussy power and your enjoyment!
  2. Choose Convenience! Make it convenient for your schedule. If you choose a location on the other side of town, then traffic or weather could give you a reason to stay home. Remove any barriers!
  3. Bring a Buddy! Whether you’re walking, jogging, or going to the gym, you will enjoy it more – and be less likely to blow it off – with a partner.
  4. Move Yo Body! Don’t think of it as “exercise.” Open your heart to a broader view. Hiking is reconnecting with nature. Yoga is restorative. Playing soccer with your kids is being a good parent. Walking helps hormones and decreases cravings!
  5. Try Technology! Use an app on your smartphone or watch to keep track of what you eat and how you exercise. It’s actually fun – and it keeps your efforts gently top of mind.
  6. Rainbows of food! Shop at a farmers markets and add more fruits and vegetables to your plate. It’s delightful what you find at these places. So many different and tasty foods!
  7. Piggy Back! Connect a new habit with something you already do without thinking. For example, what if you meditate for 5 minutes each morning immediately before you take your shower? Or go to spin class on your way home from worship services?
  8. Family Fun! Get your family on board for group participation. Can you get the kids excited about exploring plant-based entrees once a week? Or ask your partner to join you in the community 5K? How about everyone pick a new activity each week?
  9. Celebrate! Yourself and others, little victories along the way. The major goals can be daunting and so far in the future. Give yourself weekly encouragement for what you’re doing well. And encourage others.
  10. Smile! Seriously, remind yourself to smile while you’re exercising or cooking a healthy dinner. Laugh, even. Research shows that both happy actions can make us feel good, even if we’re faking them.

Be proud of the amazing steps you’re taking to improve yourself – and even more amazed at how you created healthy habits that really are fun!

Have fun!

Ever feel like your body is changing and don't know why? When I spoke to my client Jenny she felt the same way. Her body felt like it was working against her. No matter how little she ate, she would gain weight. She was skeptical about trying to lose weight because her and her body had been at odds for years. She'd been thin her whole life, but when she became a mama and after 2 pregnancies, she gained 100lbs. When we spoke she felt miserable. Defeated. Exhausted. And... Confused! I could...

After a decade in women's health, I know eating enough is 1 of the biggest struggles for us women. Everything out here says eat less, workout more and if that worked we'd all be thin and fit. So skip that and the powdered food. If we want to lose weight after 35 and work with our hormones we must adopt healthy eating habits. And that means giving our body what it needs to gain energy, release fat and feel satisfied! We have to listen to our bodies and eat enough INSTEAD of eating 1200...

When I was 12, I'd squeeze in a size 9 because I loathed being a size 13. Quickly, I ripped the belt loops and the inner thighs would bust open! I was never skinny enough and always felt over weight. Now at 38, I've worked hard on my mind and body, but it didn't happen with starving, exercise or getting into smaller pants. And it wasn't because I knew what I was doing. In fact, I was light years away from knowing anything about what my mind & body needed. At 13, I became bulimic because I...
